Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee by Charles J. Shields. Reviewer: Bill Kellough, Tulsa attorney and chairman, Tulsa City-County Library Commission. Few novels are as beloved and acclaimed as To Kill a Mockingbird and even fewer authors have shunned the spotlight as successfully as its author, who stopped granting interviews in 1965. Journalist Shields interviewed 600 of Harper Lee's acquaintances to create this unauthorized biography of the rreclusive Lee.
