Take ideas from the Channels and run with them

So I've been trying to come up with a thread concept like this, and I don't know if this is it or not, but I'll give it a shot.

The folks behind the Channels wanted to create a bold vision for revitalizing the river and the city. I applaud that, always have. I think the plan they came up with is incredibly far-fetched and they went about the process in the wrong way.

However, there were some creative ideas in the plan. If the group was open to changing their plan (which they claim they are not) based on public input (which they have avoided), we might be able to craft something extraordinary, but realistic, and a plan in which the public would have real pride of ownership.

So the idea behind this thread is to create modifications and enhancements to the Channels plan -- an opportunity the public won't have otherwise, it seems. Take individual elements of the plan and tweak them, add new ideas, borrow ideas and apply them other places -- it's up to you.
