Chicken Little

"...Round Here", and she's not happy about it.

The Tulsa World story describes how some Utility Board members changed lobbying firms without consulting the Mayor, or even having a discussion at the Board level:

quote:
"I really think it is important . . . that we operate in a very transparent manner and that business that takes place needs to take place at the public board meetings," Taylor, a member of the authority, said at Wednesday's meeting.

A change in the authority's lobbying firm and the exclusion of an authority member from one of the authority's three committees were among issues that were raised at the meeting.

"I know there is a difference in philosophy and theory as to the change we made with our lobbyist, . . . but I don't think this process was appropriate," Taylor said. "We moved from one lobbying firm to another lobbying firm without a discussion at the board level."

Taylor said her issue is with the process. She said she is concerned that an e-mail discussing the lobbyist change went to only a small group of authority members, "not including me."

"I don't know who got it (the e-mail); I just know I didn't," the mayor said.

Mayor Taylor is trying to keep 'em honest.  Way to go!  Note that some of the names were the same ones that Medlock and Friends had problems with.  But also note the change in approach.  Whereas Medlock and Crew criticized these men personally, Taylor criticizes their process.  This goes back to my only real beef with Medlock.  He was bright enough to see a lot of the City's problems, but his tactics were simply horrid, divisive, and ultimately, ineffective.

The Mayor notes that there are honest philosophical differences, but even that's okay.  Secret discussions about city business are NOT okay.  Obviously, Medlock and Friends didn't have much effect on the Good 'Ole Boys, I'm curious to see how these new tactics work(hate the game, not the playas).  Keep it up, Mayor!
