Sounds to me like the Bush administration is setting the stage for the "end times" specifically I am thinking of the part where the Christians are the ones who are persecuted.  Lets see, wiretapping without oversight, imprisonment without hearing charges presented against you, etc.

All someone has to do is gain power, label the Christians and other religious people as irrational, superstitious, connect them to our societies or the worlds troubles, call it a war against ignorance and superstition, then call them criminals and terrorists, and voila the far right of today has handed those future leaders the very tools that will persecute the Christians of tomorrow.  I mean if your a Christian and you believe that Christians will be persecuted in the end times, what laws do you think they will use?

Variations on a theme.  And I have no doubt, in time, there will be more to come.

First they put away the dealers,
keep our kids safe and off the street.
Then they put away the prostitutes,
keep married women cloistered at home.
Then they shooed away the bums,
then they beat and bashed the queers,
turned away asylum-seekers,
fed us suspicions and fears.
We didn't raise our voice,
we didn't make a fuss.
It's funny there was no one left to notice
when they came for us.

First they came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left
to speak up for me.

Yes, it's a true scandal- oak furniture in his dining room.

Kinda further pokes holes in yer "confidante" comment, since Denny didn't seem to have a clue who this guy was, eh Bledsoe?

Ok  Ok, I take it back---the Rev. was not Hastert's confidante--just his prayer partner.

I am sooooooo sorry.

And I'm sure if he'd told the nut-job to leave or refused to pray with him, then you would be crowing what a hypocrite Christian Hastert is for turning out a Christian minister.

This story has been far under the media radar scope other than the Chicago media for one reason- it's a non-issue, except to leftie hatchet hacks like yourself.

This story just gets better and better or stranger and stranger...... only in America!!!

K.A. Paul and Condoms

When I saw Wonkette's posting about K.A. Paul, the questionably self-proclaimed evangelical minister to the world, I had to email Alex Pareene. I just couldn't help myself. There are just too many strange bedfellows here, and in the interest of good, old-fashioned gossip, I told him my K.A. Paul story.

This just in too:

PAUL: Ma'am, I am so sorry to say — I know almost all the major Republican political leaders in this country, spent hundreds of hours talking to them, counseling them, in the past 10 years. They have travelled with me extensively — Bob Dole, Jack Kemp, Tom DeLay, Dick Armey. My board members are Nelson Banker Hampton and other wonderful Republican leaders. I have been a big supporter of President Bush. I have prayed with him before. He got on his knees. I have seen so many Republicans. All are wonderful people.

You know I kinda like that phrase.......

Think I will try it and see if it fits....

"Karl, hatchet hack, Rove....

It seems to fit... But is still lacking that certain something....

Yes, we know that no man of the cloth ever lies nor exaggerates.  You keep giving yourself more and more credibility, Bledsoe. [:o)]

I wonder how it went when Pastor Paul asked Denny to borrow his gas credit card? [}:)]

I'm no Hastert fan, but this is a complete non-issue regarding his fitness to be in Congress.  For anyone on this forum or elsewhere to take a story of an unplanned meeting with an unknown nutjob, and then attempt to portray the nutjob as a "confidante," "adviser," or "prayer partner" is ridiculous. Intelligent political discussion is not advanced by such antics.

I agree that this is pretty petty as an attack.

I know you are who you hang with, but a meeting with crazies every once in a while is unavoidable in life and extra hard as a politician.

If I was knew I was to be judged this harshly for an occasional meeting, I wouldn't have lunch with any TulsaNow posters.
