I understand why some people vote straight party. They have some core values that are more closely aligned by one party and they don't have the time to study every race or they just tune out the campaigning.

But democrat, republican, or independent voters have a race in Oklahoma where one candidate deserves every single vote. That race is for Oklahoma Attorney General and the candidate is the incumbent, Drew Edmondson.

I am not alone in this opinion, Every major newspaper in the state and the conservative National Rifle Association to the ultra liberal group Just Progress has endorsed Edmondson as well. He incredibly has the support of almost every political arm in the state.

I liked him in his first term when he reformed the death penalty appeal process, liked him better when he negotiated rate reductions for energy prices his second term and thought he did a great job when he got two billion dollars in settlement from tobacco companies.

Those great tasks were almost expected by me because other states were dealing with the same problems and Drew Edmondson did them well. He even had the unpleasant task to prosecute fellow democrat Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher, yet never waivered in his job.

But the act that makes me write these words are something that Drew Edmondson is wrapped in this campaign season, protecting Oklahoma's water from pollution from poultry waste. This decision and battle will probably define his entire career and has caused special interest groups to throw big money to try to defeat him.

This is a hard battle. The pollution is organic materials deposited on lands mostly out of state and out of his jurisdiction. It challenges a powerful and wealthy industry in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. It tries to interfere with practices that have gone on for generations. But it is the right battle.

The land is saturated because the number of chickens grown in our watershed has quadrupled in the last decade. The waste is ruining our pristine eastern Oklahoma rivers. Tulsa's drinking water costs more because it has to be additionally treated as well.

No industry has the right to spoil the Illinois River, Lake Tenkiller or Tulsa's water supply the way the chicken companies have.

My vote for Drew Edmondson is a way of saying thanks to him for taking on such an issue.

He is risking his political life to protect my water. He deserves more than a campaign win next Tuesday, he deserves every vote and a hero's applause.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Just to add one item to his list... I thought it took an incredible amount of courage for Mr Edmondson to not use the "Good ole Boy" system to solve the problem of his niece's arrest..

He let her go through the system the same as you or I.. Although a sad affair he IMO did the best thing he could have done.

I will go a step further and say he deserves a term as U.S. Senator in two years.....much more concerned about our children's future than the two jokers representing us today....

Instead of just telling the people one side, let them look at the differences and let the people decide.

Thanks Cubs for making the decision crystal clear. Edmondson has and is doing a stellar job. Why replace him with a fundamentalist amateur minister acting like a secular politician.

That makes my choice crystal clear. Yikes!

If Dunn sent that out, he needs to pull it. That will turn off more voters than attract them.

Not that he has a snowman's chance in Hades, anyway.

I thought Dunn's picture of horses and pigs wearing diapers in the sunday paper should've sent a clear message...

I also thinks it's a glaring example to never use "Radius 3" as your web developer since they can't even mask domains properly.

I am glad that many of you agree with me. I hope you all go to the polls and help re-elect Drew Edmondson.
