From the pictures Branson Landing looks pretty good: parking consolidated in a multi-level garage, walkable streets lined with stores and restaurants, lofts/condos above the stores, good interaction with their water feature Lake Taneycomo.

Something like this but BETTER would be a home run for the west bank.  Why not take the Channels concept of creating an urban lake (a publicly funded project) but instead of an island create a development like this that transforms the west bank.  If anything is to happen though eyesores like Westport, the Mid-Con concrete plant, and the govt. housing projects need to be removed.

The color-changing streetlights ought to go over well with the clowns that planned the year-round laser shows along the river.

We keep forgetting this is an ecosystem we're trying to pave over.  How about something a little more harmonious than a Kum&Go?
