I saw a few weeks ago a post asking about the old Frisco 4500 that used to be at the Zoo.  I saw it yesterday in Tulsa and I must say that its looking better than ever.  Its sporting a New paint job of Blue and Silver.

It does look great.

Here is a link to the folks who are restoring it and their plans...

Those volunteers are to be commended for doing such an excellent job. It's looking fantastic and I don't know how they ever considered giving a part of Tulsa history away.

If that is the same one that the Sunbelt Trust had for awhile, then some people at my shop have actually done work on it.

We get calls from time-to-time about inspecting and/or helping to re-build steam locomotives, steam tractors, or engines and boilers for small steam boats.  Problem is, they are very costly to restore to proper and safe working conditions and most of the owners are short on cash.

Funny I found this post today.  My boss and I were having lunch at Ollie's and I asked him when he thought he'd get another call from someone wanting to restore the Dierk's Forrest locomotive outside Bell's.  Seems we get a call every couple of years from someone claiming they have the funds and approval to get it going again.  My boss will go inspect it (after asking: "Do you have ANY clue what you are getting into?") issue a report, then never hear another word.

I'm really excited to see the work the Sertoma Club has done to Frisco 4500, it's very nice.  I'm going to forward the link on to my boss.
