Nice to have a Councilor actually pushing this effort.  I would love to see this extension come to fruition as well as an extension to Springfield giving us a great alternative to flying/driving.  This train could stop at the State Capitol as well as downtown providing many from this City with a viable option to OKC.

If you would like to see this happen let your Councilor know you support it and your state reps because if the extension happens it's going to have to happen with State and City funds.

This is long overdue.  I hope the state will step up and support this.  The Turnpike authority may oppose this, although most of their revenue probably comes from semi-trucks.  To me, Amtrak service could only help Tulsa.

I agree, passenger train service can only help Tulsa.  I remember when the last passenger train left Tulsa in 1967.  We went down to the old Union Depot to watch it leave.  (I was only 10 years old at the time.)  Regardless if you ride the train for commuter or nostalgia reasons, having passenger train service in Tulsa would be a big benefit, IMO.  I would ride it just for the joy/recreation novelty of it.  If there were good connections from Tulsa east or west, I would seriously consider the train as an alternative to other transport.  As the trains and steamship companies used to advertise, half the fun is in the journey, not just the destination.

Need an Enterprize Car Rental Location and a City Bus at each end of the line.  Then the train commute would make sense.

One would think the Cab Companies and the Turnpike Authority are already thinking of how to keep this from happening.

We used to have a car carrier from here to Chicago via St Louis, so you have your own car once you got there.  Would love to see that again.

well hell no the state wont support it, because it will take a huge bite out of their ticket revenue.  Now of course, you wont find anyone that will come out and say that, because they will have some other straw man issue they say is the real reason.

I think if you get the Tulsa to OKC line in.  It would be nice. To be able to go to The Capital. Only Problem is. Ardmore is About the same distance and they are paying Almost $20.00 for 1 way trafic. And It takes longer by train than by car. For a single person traveling it is nice. For a Group of 4 going to see a concert. Eh- Better get nose bleed seats.

I prefer Greyhound myself.  Better class of people.

Maybe they would consider doing monthly or annual passes for travel between OKC and Tulsa, or a special discount rate.
