This did not happen in Tulsa, but in the southern Oklahoma town of Colbert.

Colbert Council Meeting Canceled After Member's Arrest

Colbert Council Members Fire Police Chief

Colbert (AP) - A special City Council meeting in the Bryan County town of Colbert was canceled last night after a council member was arrested for driving with a revoked driver's license.

Town Administrator Dick Rarrick says Mayor Randall Gorman canceled the meeting after Council Member Maurice Robinson was arrested while on his way to the meeting.

The meeting was called to discuss the demotion or firing of Police Chief John Polston plus an ordinance requiring police officers live within seven miles of the city and the possible hiring of two police officers.

Police say Robinson's Oklahoma driver's license was revoked in 1986 because of a D-U-I and he has a Texas license but isn't a resident of Texas. Officials say the special council meeting is expected to be rescheduled for next week.

It doesn't matter if the guy is a resident of Texas or not.  If your driving privileges are suspended in Oklahoma, it doesn't matter if you somehow got a license in another state.  You still can't drive in Oklahoma.

Ain't small town politics great!
