Something I enjoyed as a teenager in Tulsa of the 1980s was the fact that there were a plethora of concerts coming in. If they weren't coming to OKC, they came to Tulsa. I remember .38 Special playing Tulsa in 1982 when Donnie van Zant was arrested for drinking on stage. I remember Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth coming through, and Iron Maiden and Quiet Riot. And yes, the Bangles, Cyndi Lauper and even Huey Lewis and the News. Some good memories, some nightmarish, but uniquely my own. I left Oklahoma in mid 1990, but from my sources back in T-Town, I hear the concert biz has kinda dried up. What say you?

Actually, I'm quite hydrated.

So have you guys gotten anyone big-name recently then?

For the near future, the Edge 104.5 has no one well known coming to Tulsa in the rock genre. Just a lot of underground bands that are really good. That's what it's been like for well over a decade, now. Really good bands that no one has heard of, except in maybe the surrounding area. The BOK Center will hopefully turn that around (praying very very hard).

The only band I can think of is Pillar but it is a Christian band that most do not know of.  They started in Kansas but moved to Tulsa.

I believe the next concert for the edge is puddle of mudd, three days grace and breaking benjamin. Plenty of nationally known acts come through Cain's and the Brady village that are edge artists, just no huge acts until the arena opens. OKC gets a lot of those acts but they have no real local radio to support them. The KATT is just a KMOD wannabe.
