As much as I would love to see NASCAR guys pounding an Okie track, it ain't gonna happen.

Btw, how many of you went to the Trans Am race at Warbonnet? Now, that was a race.

Better yet, how many of you ever heard of Warbonnet?

yes, i've heard of warbonnet, and visited the remnants a few years back.  a track of that scale could survive on Speed series SCCA races.  An F1 track would need the 1 F1 event every year as well as IndyCar and some SCCA races.

Warbonnet was a rock n roll place.  They also held an FIM Motorcycle GP Race there, majority of the Factory Teams were on hand.  We always sat on top of the Cat Tractor to watch a few sprint races.

Halett was bulit for Vintage small low horsepower auto racing, but handles club and motorcycles very well. COMMA, CMRA, and the brand clubs plus IKF Karting.  While the Stephens family have improved that facility and it is top shelf for Oklahoma, it is not a circuit that could qualify to host an FIM, MotoGP, F1, IRL or other type of event.

Here are some photos of the Warbonnet track.

Pete York #1 along side of Buddy Cagle #52 in a unique day of Super Modifieds racing at WAR BONNET.  Note, they are turning right and the track is asphalt!

Alf Gephardt has the drawings of that proposed Tulsa GP Street Circuit on the wall at his JRP shop in West Tulsa.

no, but they should shoot for some Speed touring series events.  I think they could get the track in shape for that.
