I took my son to the chess tournament today. It was odd. The male players almost all look like they are idiot savants and the women players ain't exactly beauty pageant contestants.

My son is a great chess player and is the current Tulsa Schools elementary champion. I play a pretty good game as well. I was leaving and I had a chance to look at myself in the mirror and realized I fit right in.

While we were there, we watched about twenty games being played at about eight long tables. In the twenty minutes we were there, we probably only saw five pieces being moved. It was not exactly like watching table tennis.

The matches are online at http://www.monroi.com/
Power is nothing till you use it.

So you're saying we should bring our boards with wet paint to increase the excitement.

we vs us

Funny you should mention this group.  I work at the hotel that's hosting the tournament, and I've been working pretty closely with them.  They're a great bunch of folks, though they all definitely lean towards the introverted.

Anyway, sorry I missed you RM.  I've been sitting in my office all day reading and posting on TulsaNOW [:D]

PS, Here's a nice Tulsa World article about the event.
