The best hamburgers: Claud's on Brookside, and Ron's, which is a local chain.  These places are great when I feel like giving myself a heart attack.  Also, I can't forget Goldie's (small local chain).  Goldie's is kind of a Tulsa tradition.

I'd replace Ron's with Weber's... Other than that, that's a great list.  Yet it proves that we really need to work on some kind of comprehensive guide.  While we need one for downtown, as was brought up at the AM, I think we also need one for the whole community.  We can't rely on the Chamber to do their job for us [;)].

You have a good point there, DScott.  I forgot about Weber's- although I have mainly gone there for the root beer.  Weber's definitely belongs in the best burgers category, although the Sausage Cheeseburger at Ron's is pretty amazing.

Hey I hate to ressurect a thread thats almost three months old, but I would just like to chime in. I've been in Tulsa about a week now, and I must say that I LOVE it here! As far as my living situation is concerned, I acutally got a sweetheart deal from one of my friends so I'm living with them off 71st & Sheridan. I love my job, despite some ribbing from all of the poke fans (I didn't expect Tulsa would be dominated by OSU alum) everyone has been very friendly here. My commute is 20 minutes, and considering where I came from it has been a HUGE relief! I've been exploring a few bars. I went to the Gray Snail off Cherry Street. The whole area reminds me of campus corner, so I don't feel so homesick. I also went with my job to the Brook fom lunch on Friday. All I can say about that place is LOADED FRIES! WOW!

After reading some of the threads on here, I can now see where some people come from, like the streets. I will say thats my only complaint. The streets here are really bad. But like I said, thats really my only complaint. You folks have a really beautiful, underrated city that has so much potential. I look foward to further exploring this place.

Welcome to town,  Tulsa is a pretty good place.  I have only been here 7 1/2 years and still have no desire to move on.

Good to hear such a glowing review.  I generally found the same thing...

For a change up on the bar scene check out the Blue Dome (downtown - start at the swanky-ish 100 Tap bar McNelly's and work over to dive-ish Arnies) or the Brady (other side of the tracks downtown, start at Caz's, work your way to the Sound Pony) sometime.

Also, the Poke's do NOT dominate Tulsa.  Just depends on where you work.  I'd say of the college grad's it is 25% OU, 25% OSU, 10% TU (U of Tulsa), 7% ORU (Oral Roberts), and 33% other (Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and smaller OK state schools being foremost).  I graduated from Northern Iowa (Accounting and Finance) and Tulsa (Law)... so whatever bias that might portray.

But there is no reason to take crap from a poke.  Just ask when the last time their football team finished above 500 in the Big 12 (2003) or if they are going to have a basketball program next year (poor year this year and previous, fired their coach - ran out of Suttons).  If they continue to be lippy ask them if T Boone is paying them for every kind word they say about OSU and segway into mocking their gorgeous new stadium that will sit 1/3 empty most of the time.  Or for a time-sensitive jab you could remind them that their baseball team just got eliminated on a grand slam from a former-walkon that they released from the team.

/I like OSU, but it's fun to poke fun at the pokes.

Welcome to Tulsa.
