Does anyone have any opinions about the all inclusives in Cozumel?  I stayed at the Cozumelenio years ago and was hoping for some more recent opinions on where to stay and where not to stay.

No kids and we're in our 30s.  There will be two couples. Just going to get away.

We're looking at Sabor, an adults only resort.

Any constructive information would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Townsend,

Your best bet might be to check tripadvisor.com and comments on Expedia or one of the other travel sites.  Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt unless everyone slams a place.  All-inclusive food and drinks is usually not 5-star, but a good deal if you are looking to save $$$.  Especially as high as energy is, it's amazing how expensive food has gotten in the Caribbean in just the last few years.

I just got back from 10 days in the BVI and USVI and I'd guess my on-shore trip costs were about 1/3 higher than about three years ago.  So if you are looking to cap costs and not have surprises, do it.

I had booked a trip to Coz three years ago, unfortunately Hurricane Wilma wrecked the place three weeks before I was supposed to go (I went to the BVI instead).  At least then, Coz had the reputation as the best deal in the Caribbean and wasn't as drecky as Cancun has gotten.  I have heard from friends who have been lately that the island has mostly recovered from the '05 hurricane damage.

Flights are still cheap to just about anywhere in the Caribbean but ground costs like transportation, lodging, and food are getting pretty spendy, so are snacks and beverages at stores on the islands.

I'm no travel expert, but figured it was worth sharing some of the realities of travel I found very recently.

I haven't been to Cozumel specifically, but I would recommend an adult resort. We stayed in Playa Del Carmen at Secrets Excellence which is an adults only. It was great to not have kids running around.
