It's not too late to nominate a person or organization that has made a difference in the health of Oklahomans.

Champions of Health are individuals and organizations working to make Oklahoma a healthier state. The Champions of Health awards program provides recognition and support for those working to improve Oklahoma's health and encourages others to follow their lead. Working together, we can make a difference.

Do you know a champion?

The Champions of Health awards nomination deadline has been extended to Friday, Aug. 8. Nominate online at the Champions of Health Web site, www.championsofhealth.org or submit nominations by hand at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. In Tulsa, deliver your nomination to Sarah Gatlin, 1400 S. Boston Ave. In Oklahoma City, deliver to Brooke Townsend, 3401 NW 63rd. There is no charge for entry. For additional information or assistance, call (866) 876-4376.

Winners will receive a $1000 contribution to their organization or program and will be recognized at the Champions of Health awards banquet on Sept. 29, at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City.

The event will feature former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as keynote speaker and 2005 Champion of Oklahoma Health Dr. J Mark Osborn of Miami, Okla. as master of ceremonies.

Reservations are $30 each and will be accepted Aug. 21 - Sept. 19 by calling (866) 876-4376.
