Liberty Mutual Ads and Political Eras

I don't know about you but I love the Liberty Mutual ads.

You know those are the ads that depict everyone looking out for each other in scenes like one person preventing another person from walking into rushing traffic, or another scene of a stranger stepping forward to steady a ladder for a handyman.  The ads are all based on individuals stepping up to help another individual.

Now I want to tell the young folks here something important.  That's what life in the U.S. was like from the Roosevelt years until 1980 when Ronald Reagan was elected president.

1980 was the year our country turned away from community spirit towards the glorification of selfishness.

That was also the year we said goodbye to a Democrat defined era and entered the then new Republican defined era.  It was when we abandoned old-style moralistic television shows like the Waltons for new style shows like Dallas where vicious, unscrupulous competitors were celebrated as heroes.

I'm sorry you young folks haven't been able to experience the community spirit that was prevalent before 1980.  It was a spirit encapsulated in policy and belief.  It was in so many ways, a better time.

Now, I can't predict what a new Democrat defined era would look like, but I can tell you that it won't look like our fading Republican era where the only winners are rich folks and the only morality is brut strength; where we have traded righteousness for torture and sold off our precious communities for a pocket full of greed.

Let's get our country back on the right track.  Vote Democrat this November.

So Socialism and Liberalism breads individual compassion. BS. Charitable giving goes up during Republican administrations and down when the Dims are in office. Individuals give, collectives take. A large part of what destroyed our culture was the systematic stripping of our foundational principals, by leftists. It didn't happen over night, it began with the raw deal and it's continuing today.

To say that killing unborn babies, while opposing the death penalty for murderers, destroying the sanctity of marriage and crippling our lower class by hooking them on the social system, somehow gives the warm fuzzies of baseball and apple pie is a load of crap.

Our nation was far more conservative in the past and the farther left we go, the worse it gets. Tell me the average Democrat of the 40's is anything like the slime on the left today. Not remotely similar, other than being Socialists, but at least they were fairly Conservative. The Liberal aspect of the Democratic Party is to blame for moral relativism and the downfall of civility in this nation.

Modern Liberals like to Hearken back to their Liberal heritage, but many freedoms sought by Liberals of the past, were noble endeavors. Not so today. Those goals have been achieved and Liberals have gone way beyond what is right and good, now seeking to attain goals that are nothing short of evil and totally destructive to the very fabric of society.

Oh Cousin, you have lost your way.

Raw deal?  In your code that means New deal.  And you are saying you are against Social Security, Medicare and Veterans Benefits.  In your mind those programs represent Communism.

You are symbolic of the state of Radicalism in the United States today and your misguided and mean spirited experiment has gone a long ways to destroying the American Life that we love and cherish.  You have had your chance for almost 30 years now and you have failed miserably.

Democrats have become protectors of our core values and representatives of the silent majority.  Republicans, it's past time for you to reinvent yourselves and move back towards the center where most of us live.

Careful.  She's dating the soon-to-be-CEO of Microsoft.

Also, Crash, I really think you've become my new favorite Conserva-troll.  Unless James Rage shows back up.  But until then: keep on rockin' that two minutes hate, brother!

Are those people I should know? Or know about?

The guy on the left could be Sgrizz in his early years.

HT, you still reading Crash&Burn? Not much to work with there.
