I wish cox just offered an HD only tier like Dish network does with their TurboHD.  I don't want crapovision SD.  I just need them to get SpeedHD and they I'm all set.

I need G4 and cartoon network, those are the only SD channels I watch anymore.

G4 is coming (rumor says early december just in time for the holidays)  and cartoon network is currently advertised on the Cox billboards around here as a new HD channel so I dunno where that's at.  If it is anything like NickHD though there isn't any HD content so it is mostly worthless.  G4 needs to get in HD quick because their core audience is dropping rapidly.  apprently looking at high res video game graphics in SD isn't cool to young white males.  Go figure.

Cox put up those billboards and shortly thereafter added lifetimeHD and Hallmark Movie Channel HD so now I can watch I can watch a woman leave her cheating husband, cry over Rocky Road, and meet the flannel-wearing man of her dreams on TWO channels in HD!

yes, putting those two channels in HD is like putting QVC and HSN in HD.  I hope to goodness those two channels dont make the HD transition.

G4?  Really?
I thought they lost any audience past puberty after they got rid of "The Screensavers".
You have to be Canadian to get that show now :-(

Anyway, back on topic... Its good that Cox is trying to match the lower prices of their competitors (even though they cant offer all the extra channels), but dont bite if it comes with a contract attached, or some "introductory rate" that expires in 90 days.

I watch Attack of the Show, and sometimes Ninja Warrior. I don't own a game console, so most of the rest of the network is useless to me.

Yeah, after the screen savers was gone, that was it for me.  Its nothing but crap gaming now.  I need to DVR attack of the show and give it a chance.  They still have that chic from screen savers around (Morgan I think)?  That might encourage me to check it out again.

Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton's discussions of Linux as a real alternative to Windows really got under Microsoft's skin, so the story was that M$ had a partner buy the TechTV network and put an end to all the computer-tech content.  What a shame.  Dont know how accurate that is, but at one point Microsoft partner Comcast was refusing to carry TechTV.

Morgan hosts "X-Play" which is the gaming news show. Attack of The Show kinda replaced Screen Savers and covers tech, entertainment, and random other stuff.

TechTV merged with G$ which seems more gaming orientated. Tech news is only really covered on one regular show. Linux hardly ever mentioned but Microsoft is not praised either.

not really even a news show, just a game review show.

I loved TechTV. After the merger/buyout. I now have no use for G4. I have four boy's and they are all gamers. Of course they all watch G4 and they like it. The channel's domographic went from 18 to 45 down to 10 to 25 in my opinion.
If you want to see all your TechTV people again, Go online to Revision 3. Kevin Rose started it and they have a lot of great TechTV like shows. Tekzilla is hosted by Patrick Norton and is their answer to the Screen Savers. Diggnation, Web Drifter and my favorite Scam School are just a few. Several of the old host's from TechTV are working at Revision 3 including the nutty Martin Sargent. Check it out.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.
