Business Smoke Breaks...Trashy?

Even worse, I seen workers at fast food joints cleaning up the lobby and mopping the floor in slow peroids. When someone goes in and orders food they don't was their hands, they handle the food right after mopping the floor. I have noticed that all over. There is enough blame to go around.

All the hospitals in Tulsa are non-smoking facilies. OSU MC is the only one that actually enforces a zero tolerance policy. Employees can not even have a lit cigarette when they arrive in the parking area. The MUST be off property. If they arrive on property with a lit one in their car they can and will be approached by security. Smokers have not liked this policy at all and security has never slacked.

I hear SF will still let about anyone smoke in the parking lot anytime they want, some patients are even allowed to smoke in front like always. SJMC employees can smoke about anywhere outside.
Hillcrest will also try real hard to make them not smoke.

At OSU MC we do have employees that will spend their entire break walking off property to have a smoke. I think its crazy.


What are we going to do when adjacent businesses begin to sue for employees crossing the street to smoke on their property? It's going to happen , DHS has already asked OSU MC employees not to smoke on their's. It was kinda a push and shove for awhile with surrounding businesses.

Plus I think its defeating the purpose. If you work at a hospital and are always telling people it is bad for them to smoke, does it not look real stupid for you to go outside 20 minutes later to smoke? You also see people dying from it also! Are you STUPID?

Maybe there can be a law stating that there can be No Smoking within 30 Feet of an Entrance or Exit?


How bout not in front of any building?
Smokers must also pick up there butts.(ie.. if you have a repeat offender you have a way to stop them?)Like the one creating the pile under the shrubs? We had people who would spend their entire break outside smoking and be standing right beside the ashtray and they would STILL throw their butts on the ground. It was pointless.


But isn't it crazy to have to create a new LAW for so many things that should just be common sense??


This is why we have so many CRAZY people in the world.
