It hardly matters we have QT in Tulsa and they  are the king anyhow- they rule "T" Townes gas prices. QT sets the standards and the look, and  the style that sets the style QT, QT, mark of great fuel! When QT says something the others listen.

That wasn't helpful.

Then this may be more helpful. There is a Shell Station on the corner of 31st and Sheridan, they are priced the same as the QT station on the north side of the street. As far as I know they are not going to close up. There is also a Shell station on Harvard & 36th, some clerk was killed there in a robbery last year. There still seems to be Shell stations around if ya look for 'em.

B.A. has a couple that I know of. 71st and 238th E Av and 61st and County Line by the High School.
Both are owned by people from India.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

There ya go, there are plenty of Shell stations around- but why would anyone want to go a Shell station when there are so many nice QT stations around? QT sets the price standards and other companies follow them. I remember as a kid there actually was a time when gas stations had "price wars", that was back in the 1960's- not no more.... Today the stations  jump on the bandwagon to raise the prices.

Every dog has his day. In my youth it was FINA and PEMCO gas stations. They had to give away a set of Anchor Hocking glass ware to get you to buy a full tank of gas. Price wars killed a lot of station owners who actually owned their stations and purchased gas from the big guys. So, when the gas wars were raging, they were the victims. Service, location and brand loyalty were deciding factors.

Things don't always change for the best.

As a young lad. I worked for Vickers, Thomco, Surfco and DX. Times sure have changed where Petrol Stations are concerned.

DX gas was terrible.  I got significantly (considering the 10 to 12 MPG of the 70s) less MPG using DX compared to Texaco.  DX also gummed up my carburetor and required a rebuild.  "Merging" with DX was probably one of Sun Oil's less intelligent moves.

Since we are now clomping down memory lane here's a few others which were local gas stations:

Apco, Consumers, & Hornet.

Fina?  I seem to remember one at S.E. corner of 71st & Memorial, at the only stop light between 51st and (at least) 131st.

Our gasoline will be getting much worse the EPA is going to force 15% blend into our fuel instead of the current 10% and that will cause alot of damage to our vehicles, worse they want to ban 100% gasoline from being sold.

you do realize they're not using the summer blend this year, right?

And I have a relative working for the EPA in Washington.  That's complete horse crap.  You need to stop watching Fox News for your primary source of info.

I've only been in this town long enough to remember that as a Circle K.
