HELLLOOOOOOOO CHICKEN FRIED!!!!!!

Nelson's Ranch House is officially open.  Got the chicken fried about 7 am; first they served.  It's better than I remember.

The paper said it would have a lot of the old staff, but I only recognized a cook who came in later. 

The old decorations are up and that's cool to see.  It's set up with two rooms and the main room has a counter.  I couldn't tell if it would be a buffeteria or not; we had sit down service, but it looks like there's a counter set up in the back.

Back to the important part: the grub.  CFS came with eggs and hash brown and a biscuit or toast.  Looks like the lunch menu has a lot of the old stuff, though maybe chicken fried chicken instead of the chicken fingers (booooo!).   The CFS is for real; I have been trying all of them around town, per a couple of different message board conversations and this is easily the best.  It's not a monstrosity like they serve at Charleston's or the first rate meat they have at the Atlas, but it's so much better.  The breading is better than I remember; they might make it fresh at breakfast. 

Regardless, please support this place.  It's part of our culture and makes us unique.  It's at 3rd and Utica in the old Ranch House, across from the Church Studio.  It was an easy drive, despite Monday morning traffic.  And the place was fast -- we were in and out in less than 30 minutes.
