A teen was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Payne County when he tried to run over a squirrel Thursday morning, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Cameron Cook, 18, was driving a 2002 Acura east on Oklahoma 33 east Of Hackleman Road about 10:30 a.m. when the squirrel ran across the road, troopers said.

Cook missed the animal, drove off the road and rolled the car once, the OHP reported. Cook, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown 18 feet from the vehicle.

He was taken to Stillwater Medical Center and then flown in serious condition to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Troopers reported that he had head, arm, leg and internal and external trunk injuries.

The OHP did not report his hometown.

Right On!

I see many animals that have been killed intentionally by drivers speeding up when they see them.

Too bad we can't do the same when when we see people like this driver crossing the road.
