Seems w/ all the new high dollar casinos going up everywhere, there seems to be no drought of gamblers and their $$$ departed.

I woulda thought our school districts wouldn't be on the verge of bankruptcy with all the "help".

Don't forget all the money the schools are getting from the lottery.  ::)

I asked this some time ago in trying to compare the same issue here in AZ with all the casinos and shared revenue from them, as well as the amount from the lottery. I'll try and find it.

IIRC, state revenue streams which existed to fund schools prior to the gaming pacts and lottery were slashed due to the supposed windfall schools would get from degenerate gamblers.  I actually do buy a couple of Powerball tickets each week, I figure it's a small contribution and who knows... you can be assured the biggest Marshall's keg party to date would follow.  Actually I think I'd do what the person who bought the winning ticket in BA did a few years ago: form a trust and collect it quite anonymously.

This provides some answer to your question, at least as it relates to the lottery.

As I recall, the constitutional amendment to allow the lottery included language that was represented as preventing the legislature from substituting lottery funding for education for general appropriations for education.  I think it is foolish to think such substitution can actually be prevented given the fungibility of money and how the appropriation process works.

I don't think the small share Oklahoma gets from Class III games at Indian casinos is designated for any particular purpose (such as education) but goes into the state's general revenues.
