"From the get-go, it seems like two-year, rookie cops are actually investigating,"  Sgt. Martinez told The Oklahoman on Thursday. "Security guards could probably do better. Basically, it's a fiasco."

The type of pets killed doesnt mater so much as the callousness of the act,
and what sort of house search is it when they break down the outside door, turn the place upside down, pry open a safe, but then leave when they decide a locked interior door should be opened by a locksmith "because they wanted to prevent damage, Stewart said" ?

"It pretty much ended the life I had to deal with this," said Sgt. Martinez. "Amazed at how someone can throw you in jail on third hand information, with no investigation and basically you get locked up on $80,000 bond on charges like that.

Martinez was a police officer for more than 18 years and spent more than a decade as a foster and adoptive parent. Martinez said his adopted son was upset and got mad, but did not specify why. However, he's glad the teen recanted his story, saying the 16-year-old did the right thing. The videotaped confession that the accusations were a lie was handed over to police.

"They jumped to conclusions. They threw me in jail. They believe what they want to believe," said Martinez.
Martinez alleges investigators have botched this investigation at every point. He said he's never seen anything like it, but was most surprised by how he's been treated.

"This is not a third world country. This is the United States. We need to do things correctly here," he said.

Martinez added he is considering a lawsuit against the city.

Took almost four weeks for them to decide on what they confiscated:

Investigators took the photographs, unspecified documents, two desktop computers, a laptop computer, six cell phones, three hand-held cameras, two surveillance cameras, memory cards, a pistol, two rifles, three Sony PlayStation 3 video game systems, bedding and other items from Martinez's home during a multiday search of his south Oklahoma City residence, according to court papers.

Ill bet the officers involved in the "search" are going to feel uncomfortable when he is re-instated.

And the story gets more bizzarre;

On Friday, March 11, police arrested 31-year-old Thomas Salazar for accessory after the fact to lewd acts with a child, and accessory after the fact to allowing abuse by a caretaker. According to the arrest warrant, Martinez instructed Salazar to remove evidence from his home. Police said Salazar entered the house before officers had finished searching it for evidence, taken several items and "planted" evidence.

They kicked in an outside door, but not an inside door that was locked.  That's the reason the search was paused, possibly giving the second suspect time to sanitize the scene?

They have got to make a TV movie about this, as soon as they figure out an ending:
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police have arrested Sgt. Maurice Martinez again, and he now faces more than a dozen charges that include kidnapping and forcible sodomy.

Martinez was first arrested in January when his adopted 16-year-old son accused him of sexual abuse. Oklahoma City Police Capt. Patrick Stewart said investigators recently received new information in the child molestation case against the sergeant.

Back in January, two of Martinez's foster children ran away from DHS protective custody. Federal police received information that one of the runaways was possibly being held against his will near Salt Lake City, Utah. Local police performed a child welfare check, and the boy was taken into custody.

After learning of the allegations, police pulled over Martinez's car Friday at 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of S.E. 44th and Sooner in Oklahoma City. The 44-year-old had one of his adopted children in the car with him, but the boy took off running when police stopped the car.

Police say during the arrest, they were forced to use a taser gun on Martinez. He was taken to the Oklahoma County jail where he's being held with no bond.

Martinez now faces several charges, including one count of kidnapping, two counts of harboring a runaway juvenile, seven counts of sexual abuse by a caretaker and two counts of forcible sodomy.

Martinez is currently on administrative leave with pay from the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The foster child who was with Martinez when police stopped the car later called 911, saying he was cold and hungry.  He was taken into protective custody.

The OKC captain actually shaved his head.   Too good to not be "reality" TV someday.
