Their meat market closed within a few months, I didn't expect they would last long.

That closed a while back as I recall. I took a cooking class almost 2 years ago and that market was closed. I also thought the new restaurant in there was doing well. It's puzzling.

I called them a couple of weeks ago looking for something.   The lady had such an attitude I wouldn't have gone there even if they did have it.

My wife and I had a similar experience in the store. We had been in there looking for something and couldn't locate it so my wife asked if they had what we were looking for. The woman working in there seemed put out that we were bothering her and was very short with my wife. We left and never went back.

The one dinner that I had there was excellent.   I wonder where the chef has gone to?

Simple lack of volume.  They had hundreds of thousands of dollars in product on the floor and very little inventory turn over, except for some standards.  It was a poor location for such a store.  They needed an anchor to bring traffic their way.

They had great product, unique selection, and from my experience wonderful service.  When they started serving food, it was absolutely delicious!

I would have to chalk this up to location.  Put this same shop down on Cherry Street and perhaps they would have a different story to tell.

They weren't exactly novices to business.  Don Jones was a partner in Pepper's Restaurant for years as well as owning his own landscape business.  I never had issues when I went in there, but the location did seem like somewhat of a loser to me.  Utica Square would have been a great location, IMO.  As well, one of the Helmerich's was his business partner in Pepper's.

There was a Pepper's guy that tried a little bbq trailer for a while before Pepper's in BA went out.  Was that by any chance Don Jones?
(Either way, trailer guy was a good guy who made good bbq.)

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

I wonder if Sage Culinary moving in 2 miles south had anything to do with it.

We used to go visit quite a bit, but only was able to afford a few things there.  Very specialized items that I couldn't find in town and was willing to pay a premium.  (Am willing to generally pay up to 25% and even 50% more for some items just so I don't have to order online.)

Loved looking and wishing, but just couldn't afford them.
