Do they charge extra for having smoke detectors and things like that?  Ive run into that among wholesalers that want to look less expensive than they actually are.

No extra charges.  Whatever setup you have they will monitor (as long as it is one of the systems listed on their site).  It was a little bit of a pain to reprogram my system but one of the guys was eventually able to connect into it through the internet and set up everything for me.  Once it is programmed, you go on their site and specify what you want to happen when a zone is triggered and things like that.  They give you as long as you want to test it out before turning on the monitoring.  They only charge you when you are done testing and I got 4 months free with the internet adapter I bought.  You can cancel service anytime you want.  So far I am happy with them.
