This has recently become my district.  I'd hoped for a chance to vote against Maria in D-4.

Roop is a re-tread and he's worked inside a Republican administration-pass.  I know nothing of Karen Gilbert.  I like Trail.  Is he the smartest person on the council? No.  But I believe he approaches the job from the viewpoint of a citizen not an aspiring politician.  I'll vote for him to get another term.

I don't live in the district, but I like Chris Trail.  I didn't want to see him get elected last time, but he has suprised me.  He comes across as trying to do the right thing and not as a career politician.

Sam Roop on the other hand is a career politician and his campaign manager is Jim Burdge.  Enough said.

I disliked Roop when I was in District 5.  I too was skeptical of Chris, but got to know him a little bit.  Decent guy.  Didn't hurt that he runs one of my five favorite restaurants.

Looks as if Chris will not remain in the seat, as it appears that either Roop or Gilbert will defeat him (Roop and Gilbert are 3 points separated from each other at 38 and 41 percent respectively.  Trail is at 20 percent).  Since there is no dem running against, this will be the decider on who wins the seat.  Hope you get to know whomever it is Conan, it no longer matters to me as a displaced D5 to D3 citizen.

Curious how Trail got slaughtered so bad.  He was not what I consider a controversial councilor, but more a bystander.  Since the Whirled erected the paywall, I guess I miss  out on a lot of the media plants by Burdge.  Did they go back in and assail him on his personal life again?  I could see it if he lost by a few points, but I really don't see where he did so poorly to merit losing by such a large margin.  Or was this what "they" were hoping for when the districts were re-drawn?

I thought it was Karl Ahlgren going after Trail.. or was it both?
