Gun shops around town?

I buy most of my guns at Academy Sports.  It's like the McDonald's of guns.  I can be in and out in 15 minutes, and they get new stock almost every day.

Wish they would put in a drive-through.

My point was, you will end up looking long and hard trying to find a dealer or store who hasn't used that tactic.  I find it deplorable as well, but if I refused to do business with everyone who did that, I couldn't buy any guns or ammo.

Had a clerk at the local Drug Warehouse do that to me last week..well, sort of.  I was coming to pick up a prescription and decided I needed a couple of items.  Paid with cash, but needed a penny to make it even or something.  She told me she had some in the tray, but I already had one out and made a comment about them getting rid of pennies anyway (since that talk has been going around).  She then proceeded to tell me how 'our current President wants us to be more like China anyway so pennies wouldn't matter'.

Wait, what?  I told her not to speak to me anymore.  Not because she said something like that, but because she was stupid enough to believe it.

That must be in some of the water around these parts.

OK, back to our regularly scheduled discussion about guns..

Thought about going to Bass Pro...but they are really, REALLY proud of their guns.

At least that's the impression I get from the prices they're asking.

It's probably the fact that they were so in your face about it

Academy has a great website too that makes comparisons easy.  I like to spend time at Bass Pro, but find their gun counter annoying, and the process tedious because there are always 100 people there and 6 people helping them.

In the last couple of years these places have really gotten pounded.  I wanted to pick up a little Bursa Thunder for my wife a few weeks ago and every store in town would sell out the day a shipment came in.  When I did pick one up, the guy told me that because of the increase in demand they have Academy doubled their handgun business in Tulsa over the last year.

yeah according to their website the same glock is 599.99 (70 dollars higher than Dongs) and the Gen 4 Glock 23 is 579.99 at Academy (50 bucks higher than Dongs). They have the Gen 3 Glock 23 for 529.99 but I believe I want the gen 4.  I sent an email to Sooner Guns earlier today, since they are closed on Monday.  I asked point blank (no pun intended) what he charges for the two guns I am looking for and if there is even a 5 or 10 percent discount if buying 2 together.  Even at 5 percent, it would save me 50 bucks.

I have the Thunder .380.  Nifty little gun; it resembles a Walther PPK..
