QuoteTULSA, Okla. — A new history center is coming to Tulsa's Greenwood District to help honor the legacy of Black Wall Street before and after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

The groundbreaking ceremony happened Friday where the museum will be built at the southeast corner of Greenwood and Archer.

The Hille Foundation and 21 North Greenwood, LLC donated the land to the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission instead of building a previously planned mixed-use building

Drove past and saw that foundation work is well underway for this, at long last.

Looking good, and really closes the gap between the newer Greenwood Ave development south of the tracks.

They seem to be working on the cladding. Can't wait until this street is open again.

I can't believe how fast they finished this. They must have worked 24/7 towards the end.

So apparently they have taken a lot of the siding materials back off of this and construction walls are now back up around it. It looks like they had some kind of major issue with the materials or something. Very odd. I knew the center wasn't 100% done, but didn't expect them to have to completely re-work the exterior.

Still putting the façade back on, but at least it's back open officially now.
