Neighbor's Power Lines Crossing My Yard

A contractor told me yesterday that I could request that the City, AEP (?) move my neighbor's power lines so that they don't cross my yard. I looked at the Survey that was done when we bought the house and it does not show any utility easements along the path that the lines run. Has anyone ever pursued something like this? My first thought is to just call the Mayor's Action Center. Anyone have a better idea?

First, welcome aboard!

Honestly, this sounds like an issue with AEP.  If you have the survey and there is no easement shown, either the survey company screwed up or AEP did.  We have a couple of members here who work for AEP, perhaps they could send you in the right direction as to who to contact at AEP.

I really don't think the Mayor's Action Line will be of help since it's not a city-owned utility.

I had this very problem with my neighbors line. We had old At&t lines, power lines and cable lines all over our back yards. My neighbors phone lines attached to my house then jumped over to hers. Cable too. We're in an old hood though where sometimes the trees and poles mess things up. The utility people used to be more co-operative with each other but not now.

I called AT&T and they took the lines down. PSO isn't as reponsive but they will do something if you keep after them. Turns out they must be at least a foot apart from each other iirc.
