I've seen the steel post method, but curious about the concrete....do they just dig a hole under your footing with the wall jacked up some, then pour concrete?

Yup.

Steel hands down. Steel also can be re-adjusted. Cement cracks. A tiny crack in cement can fill with water and freeze, then the little crack becomes a bigger crack. I guess that's why steel costs more because it better, useually something better always costs more. This is a easy choice to make IMO.

Nothing was mentioned about the kind of foundation- slab or crawl space. My real estate agent told me (as did my home inspector) that a crawl space foundation is better than a slab foundation. I bought a home in 2009 built in the 1950's with a crawl space. As far as I know my foundation is OK I have no issues. I have clay & sand soil.

Two different approaches...if done properly, slab is fine.  Therein lies the rub - the sorry builders who cut every corner they can and cheap it up 'cause they know they won't be around in 5 to 10 years when it craters anyway....  (can you spell "Home Creations"??)
