Tulsa Police may have been watching Hmong gathering as attack unfolded

Police credit the quick apprehension of two persons suspected in the shooting of five party-goers to the coincidental presence of one of their helicopters using Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) surveillance cameras Saturday. 
Officers arrested Boonmlee Lee, 21, and Meng Lee, 19 after the police helicopter reported a vehicle with its lights off leaving the Green Country Event Center, where 300-400 people had congregated for the celebration of the Hmong New Year, according to arrest reports.

Police also said the helicopter picked up a heat signature from the gun that they believe a suspected shooter threw out of the getaway car.
A "person of interest" was taken into custody after being spotted from the police helicopter and a 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun was recovered, police said.

According to arrest reports, Tulsa police stopped a suspicious vehicle in which Meng Lee was the driver and Boonmlee Lee was a passenger a few blocks away from the event center. Officers in the Tulsa police helicopter detected a heat signature from a handgun that had apparently been thrown into the grass near the vehicle, the report said.
