Don't make fun of the TSA

Misguided Republican Idiot Rogers from Alabama introduced a bill that has a nice little nugget of foolishness in it.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.R.3011:

Scroll down to section 295 and you will find a paragraph that would make it illegal to portray, even in jest, a TSA agent without written permission.  So basically if SNL does a skit about being molested at the airport, they could be arrested.  If you decide to go as your favorite latex gloved TSA agent to the company Halloween party, you could be arrested.

I hope this doesn't spill over to other agencies or I will have to get rid of my F.B.I. (Female Body Inspector) hat.

A TSA classic.  I figured I'd post it before I can get arrested for it

And then there's this:

As Ingrid Esser hands a Transportation Security Administration officer her identification and boarding pass for a flight from Logan International Airport to Washington, D.C., she faces a flurry of questions.

Where is she going? Why? How long is she staying?

..."They're asking questions that people have a right not to answer," says Mike German, senior policy counsel at the ACLU. "It's nobody's business — and certainly not the government's business — where you're traveling and why."

So far, only 48 travelers out of about 132,000 who have been questioned here at Logan have refused to answer the questions, and instead their carry-on bags were physically searched.

"If they refuse to answer, we (still) let them catch their flight," says Ed Freni, Logan's aviation director.

Riiiight.  An undertrained pumped up security guard would never prevent a passenger from flying if he refused to answer these intrusive questions.

There are two correct responses: "Am I being detained?" and "Am I free to go?"

May you live in interesting times.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I wanted to send a pleasant word to the Tulsa TSA folks. Thanks.

Here's to a good frisking for you and yours.

The TSA are not cops.  They legally cannot detain you.  The mourning evidence is the tens of BILLIONS spent on their "security" has done nothing.  Studies, which they refuse to release without a fight, consistently show their incompetence (Google the result... MOST firearms made it past in tests.  Same with faux bombs).  Their best justification for their existence is then incident where someone went nuts trying yo kill TSA workers.

Now **** citizen.  The government wants to know where you are going, who you are meeting, what you are doing there, and needs to see what you are bringing with you.  Now take off your belt and smile for the nudy scanner, comrade.

When I fly, I tape refrigerator magnets on my chest to spell out "Not A Terrorist".

Someone was complaining in another thread that TPD officers were over paid at $65k to $95k, hey if you want something cheaper, I'm sure you could replace TPD officers with TSA washouts and only pay them $40k.
