The Oklahoma Highway Patrol showed off a new toy Monday -- blinding LED light bars.

The spokesperson hints that blinding drivers is by design...
"If we pull someone over, and they have to move their mirror down to get that light out of their face, then we know we've got it adjusted right."

...but blinding people in 70mph traffic with a welding-torch-in-your-face light might not be such a good idea.

My prediction is that officers will be jumping onto the bandwagon to get these installed right up to the point a blinded motorist plows down a trooper standing beside the lights they believed would keep them safe.
So while some poor fool with astigmatism goes to prison, troopers will quietly stop using them out of concern for their own safety, and OHP eventually sells them off to other departments at auction.

Yeah, lets blind the person we are pulling over so that they have no idea where to stop.
