"Up the Creek": Crow Creek and the Consequences of Development

Tulsa Now is partnering with the All Souls Green Team and the Oklahoma Conservation Commission to present their June forum , "Up the Creek."  Crow Creek runs through multiple residential and commercial areas and, as a result of development, it is now impaired. Local groups have volunteered to clean up the creek and restore its vibrancy and continue to do so.

Bluethumbok.com cites that, "The more urban an area the greater the impact on the streams that run through it.  A stream reflects the activities that take place in its watershed.  Good management of your yard and how a city manages its land makes a healthier environment for all..." This forum will cover what can be done to remedy pollution from run-off, pesticides and neglect as well as discuss how these issues can be prevented with future development.

The meeting is Wednesday, June 3rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Church. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Guest speakers will discuss various perspectives including:
1.  Jean Lemmon with the Oklahoma Conservation Commission.  Jean is a geologist and stream expert and will review the current status of the creek.

2.  Graham Brannin with  City of Tulsa Stormwater Management.  Graham is highly knowledgeable about streams and green solutions to avoid poisoning waterways.

3.  Tony Clyde with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Tony will be discussing engineering solutions like bridges and walking trails.
