Hello... I lived in New Orleans, well, my belongings still live there, or at least float there, but I am in Austin, TX staying with the in-laws. I am looking for housing for my family; husband, 11 yr old son, and myself. We have a big lazy dog (friendly breed). I mention the dog first because she is very important to us; and when I say lazy I truly mean it. Major activity for Layla is a quick walk of 2 blocks to potty, and yes, we pick up after our dog; then it's back to sleep on her bed. She does this 3 times a day and for her this is major activity level....lol..
So, here's our sob story... My son has severe ADD and on vacation to New Orleans we stumbled across a newspaper article about a school for gifted students struggling with ADD. Well, we looked into the school and were impressed; set up an interview and low and behold, our son was accepted. So we pack up all of our belongings, find a renter to lease the house we own in Houston, and move away to New Orleans. Sounds great, doesn't it! Well, we were in New Orleans for a solid 3 months then wham... The hurricane hits! The worst part is that we truly thought that it was going to be over in a day or so with no permanent damage; maybe a few shingles and a broken window, but nothing with long term effects. So we load up the car with 3 changes of clothes, the boy, the dog, the adults, and the laptop and away we went... I have to say that first news report after the storm struck had us all doing the happy dance! We truly thought we had been spared the brunt of the wind damage..(Boy, were we wrong)..
I'm sure by now many of you are wondering how I choose Tulsa as the new place to call home....A map & a dart board.... No, no, no, I'm only kidding... My mother lives in a small town outside of Tulsa and, I gotta say, I need my family now more than ever.
We are looking in the midtown area for a house that, obviously, will accept my dog. It needs to have at least 2 bedrooms preferably 3 bdrs or 2 bdrs and a study. We have a home based business and I need the extra room for the business. In a perfect world I would like 2 bathrooms, central air and heat, a dishwasher, and a garage... Notice I said in a perfect world, as these are just wants, not needs... I am not asking for a handout or reduced rent... The only problems I need help with are possibly a deferred deposit or letting me pay the deposit out over a few months as we had just finished paying for the private school tuition and we are not sure if we will get that back. My current landlord will sing my praises and I am never late on rent. Being a homeowner ourselves, not that we can move back to our house in Houston as we leased it out before we moved, please be assured that we will take superb care of the property.
