Whether you agree with his position or not, I think it's admirable. The vast majority of professional athletes wouldn't dream of speaking out (as Michael Jordan once famously said, "Republicans buy shoes, too").

Thomas seems to be a bit deeper than most NBA players -- publishing a book of poetry, for instance. I would guess that he'll do pretty well for himself after basketball.
