" In December, 443,045 Oklahomans received food stamps, a 3.4 percent increase over December 2004.

The federal minimum wage -- as well as Oklahoma's -- is now $5.15 an hour. A Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Richard Morrissette of Oklahoma City, has filed a bill for consideration this session to raise the minimum wage to $6.15 an hour or the current federal minimum wage, whichever is greater.

"Our constituents say there are plenty of jobs out there, but
you have to have two of them just to make ends meet," said Rep. Ryan McMullan of Burns Flat, chairman of the Democratic caucus."
