Biodiesel Plant Planned At Port Of Catoosa
AP - 6/2/2006 9:03 AM
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A second biodiesel plant is being planned in Oklahoma.

Construction on a $30-million biodiesel refinery is to begin in late summer or early fall at Tulsa's Port of Catoosa.

The plant is being built by Houston-based TexCom, Incorporated, and investors include a group led by former Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys football coach Barry Switzer. TexCom spokesman Brad Barker says the refinery will use mostly Oklahoma grown soybeans and produce 35-million gallons of biofuel each year and have 19 full-time workers.

Biodiesel is blended with traditional diesel to produce what supporters say is a cleaner burning and more efficient fuel.

The state's first biodiesel plant is being built in Durant with investors including singer Willie Nelson and actor Morgan Freeman.
