From a letter sent to TulsaNow by the South Tulsa Citizens Coalition on June 23, 2006:

Dear STCC Supporter –

The election season is once again upon us and there are five Republicans and one Democrat vying for the vacated House District 69 seat which encompasses a portion of South Tulsa and all of Jenks.  If you are a Republican and reside in House District 69, on July 25th you will be given the opportunity to cast a vote in the Republican primary for a new state representative.  In order to assist you with your voting decision, STCC has contacted (or attempted to contact) each of the Republican candidates for this seat and asked them to state their position with regard to the South Tulsa bridge issue.  Listed below, in alphabetical order, is each candidate's position.

Jeff Applekamp:  Mr. Applekamp is against the South Tulsa bridge as it is currently proposed and has signed one of STCC's representation letters.

Lisa DeBolt:  Mrs. DeBolt is against the South Tulsa bridge as it is currently proposed and has signed one of STCC's representation letters.

Darrell Gwartney:  Mr. Gwartney is in favor of the South Tulsa bridge as it is currently proposed and refused to sign one of STCC's representation letters.

Fred Jordan:  STCC attempted to contact Mr. Jordan on three separate occasions.  Mr. Jordan never returned our telephone calls or responded to our e-mails.  However, while Mr. Jordan was knocking on doors a few weeks ago, he orally stated to STCC's Vice-President that he is in favor of the South Tulsa bridge as it is currently proposed.

Chris Medlock:  Mr. Medlock is against the South Tulsa bridge as it is currently proposed and has signed one of STCC's representation letters.

STCC realizes that the South Tulsa bridge issue is only one of many issues facing House District 69.  However, given the candidates' responses and to ensure that your voice continues to be heard with regard to the South Tulsa bridge issue, STCC encourages you to vote for either candidate Applekamp, DeBolt or Medlock.

You can view the representation letters signed by candidates Applekamp, DeBolt and Medlock at www.movethatbridge.com .  If you are unsure as to whether or not you reside in House District 69, please go to www.okhouse.gov/Districts/New%20Districts/HD69.pdf .

As always, your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
