River Plans Aplenty

Any one see Dan Hicks' plan for river development? He was interviewed with Randi Miller on TV (channel 6 I think) this morning and produced artists renderings showing what appeared to be a pretty nice little plan for at least one area of the river.

His plan would carve a canal (where have I heard that before...) into the west bank area, diverting river water inland and creating an island without the flooding potential. It would create new shoreline that would be easier to develop. Hmmm...
