I say he will, citing health reasons.

I predict it will happen real soon in order to signal that there are new republicans to go along with all the new democrats taking office in January.

It gives George Bush a chance to appoint a contender to the vice-presidentail job so they can be a force in the presidential campaign of 2008.

Will it be McCain, Guliani or someone else?

My guess is someone safe and unknown like Senator Sam Brownback from Kansas.
Power is nothing till you use it.

I don't think he will, but he should.
Both Rumsfeld and Cheney resign? That would be to much of a disgrace to Prez Bush.  I think Cheney is here as long as Dubya is.

I was hopeful for dumping of cheney-rumsfeld in 2004. I'd say if cheney did it would be just far enough off from rumsfeld's departure to pretend it's just coincidence.

I guess it would be too much to hope for... If he and Dubya were to go hunting and neither one made it back..

That's an interesting prediction and it makes sense but I don't think it'll happen. I agree with Steve that it would look too much like an admission from Bush that he made a mistake. And Bush is incapable of making an admission like that. Also, I think Cheney is too much of a power monger to resign voluntarily and Bush would never fire him even if he could.

I think all they need is an excuse for Cheney to leave then it is not seen as a mistake or loss of power.

That is why I suggested health reasons. He has already had four heart attacks.

We should pray your guess comes true. But he's the real prez, the oz behind the wizard (Rove)....highly doubtful.
