Last weekend I got sick of ice, so I drove over to Arkansas because I heard they had a lot of rain. It was above freezing (but raining) both days. All the rivers were swolen with the rain, the waterfalls were running and the Trumpeter Swans were back at Boxley Mill Pond. Had a great, if wet, weekend and didn't slip or slide until I got to Siloam Springs.

I bought a couple of Tim Ernst guidebooks at
http://www.timernst.com/guidebooksmaps.html
I'm working my way through them. I just started in November just after the fall foliage was over, so my pictures aren't going to too colorful til spring, but even in winter that area is beautiful.

This particular waterfal is a quarter mile scramble from a paved road and I'm in terrible shape, so I was pretty winded but for most people it would be a breeze. This waterfall is not marked and there is not really a path. Walking in on this rainy day, I met an older couple coming out. They had their "Arkansas Waterfall Guidebook" with them. Unless you are local or know a local, you would never see many of these falls. The guidebook does say these falls look best after a big rain.
