"If the Democrats were going to sit down and construct the perfect candidate for 2008, they'd be hard-pressed to improve on Gore. Unlike Hillary Clinton, he has no controversial vote on Iraq to defend. Unlike Barack Obama and John Edwards, he has extensive experience in both the Senate and the White House. He has put aside his wooden, policy-wonk demeanor to emerge as the Bush administration's most eloquent critic. And thanks to An Inconvenient Truth, Gore is not only the most impassioned leader on the most urgent crisis facing the planet, he's also a Hollywood celebrity, the star of the third-highest-grossing documentary of all time."

"He has built an infrastructure that is impervious to traditional political calculations," says Ron Klain, Gore's former chief of staff. "His base of support is truly national -- no matter what else happens, no matter who else is in the race."

"The chaos in the aftermath of a military victory in Iraq," he warned, "could easily pose a far greater danger to the United States than we presently face from Saddam."

"More than any other Democrat over the last four years, Gore has actually delivered," says Moulitsas, one of the Internet's most influential organizers. "If Gore enters the race, it's his nomination for the taking." In an online poll of 14,000 activists held in December by DailyKos, sixty percent voted for Gore. By comparison, Clinton received just 292 votes.

But Gore's greatest appeal may come, ultimately, from what he represents to voters fed up with two terms of the Bush administration. "He'll be able to make the case that he should have been president already," says Carrick. "And that had he been president, things would have been a lot different, with the Iraq war being Exhibit A."

Double A

Only if he brings back the beard.

Great Scott!  He looks like a cross between Jeffrey Jones (the actor) and Ted Kennedy.

IMO- Gore doesn't have any political clout left to cash, he's the third biggest liberal whiner behind Aox and Waterboy (hey, you asked for the title WB) [;)]

Gore is the walking embodiment of a hypocrite liberal.

Don't you just love how they attack the looks of democrats rather than their ideas. Also, he's no liberal hypocrite. He may be liberal, but so what? Beats the current alternative.

Maybe someone should be talking to Dan Marino about Nutrisystem?

Hawkins

I would vote for Gore this time around.

One major ice-storm and a record 73 degree day later (yesterday), I'm totally convinced that we've screwed up the environment.

And I haven't even read his book yet.

--

Not to mention the fact that after 9-11, he would not have invaded Iraq.

Gee Hawkins, just what we need, more single-issue voters like you who haven't researched anything else about the candidate.

http://www.realchange.org/gore.htm

You haven't read his book, don't even really know what he says in it, yet you are willing to give him a pass.  Are you going to balance the rhetoric of a bitter ex-politician with accredited scientists who say this science is flawed?

Would you go to an orthopedist for heart surgery?

How much is Gore doing to help the environment?

Perhaps you need to research a little further on why we went into Iraq. I'll put it this way, if we hadn't have gone into Iraq, there's a very high likelihood that after we took out the Taliban in Afghanistan that the new hotbed for terrorist spring training camp would have been Iraq.

Did anyone see Chubs on the grammy awards last night?  I didn't bother to watch, but my wife started laughing hysterically when he stepped on stage.  I had her rewind the DVR and it was like 2000 all over again.  When this guy gets in front of a camera he turns into a tree stump...

Bush has to be one of the worst public speakers of all time, but this guy can't be far behind...

I'm not much into entertainment industry self-love fests.

I was watching much more important stuff like the on-going saga of Anna Nicole Smith's death. [;)]
