So what has your great leader in the house brought you Dems who supported her so far?

I forecast two years of absolutely no progress and the Dems will blame it on recalcitrant Republicans.

I call shenanigans Conman.

No matter how you attempt to refocus the real issues confronting our democracy the problem is not Nancy Pelosi. Perhaps you have issues with women. It is far too early in her term to commence discussion of the speaker from the right wing babble angle. But I bet her popularity never dips below %30.

There's little the congress can do while these nuts run the country from the White House. When up against the wall one will take to offensive methods. Especially true of republicans. Perfect example conman.....

Wow, Aoxymoron- 30% popularity or %30 as you like to say, now that's a lofty goal to aspire to.

I have a problem with women?  That sounds like Hometown's clap-trap.  I take issue with Pelosi because she was the central blabbermouth for how bad the GOP was and how good the Dems were going to do.  So yes, she is deserving of criticism as the third most powerful politician in America.

The promise was for bi-partisan legislation and GOP members have been largely locked out of the process.

HR 6 is a huge load of crap, it doesn't break the link between lobbyists and congress as Pelosi promised and claims they have done.

How could anyone think that an eliteist institution like Congress is going to take away all the attendent perks that come with office?

I'm not sure even a skillful attorney like IPLaw could decipher this resolution.

Along the lines of "draining the swamp", since 9/11/01, the speaker of the house is afforded a military aircraft to fly them to and from their home district.

Now Pelosi wants to expand on that and allow for travel for family members and other members of the California delegation.  Maybe that's so they don't have to worry about all the convoluted accounting practices involved with reporting flying on private entities jets.

Here's a real worthwhile use of time from Mr. Conyers:

By Mr. CONYERS (for himself, Mr. NADLER, Ms. JACKSON-LEE of Texas, Ms. KILPATRICK, Ms. NORTON, Mr. OLVER, Mr. WYNN, Mr. BISHOP of Georgia, Mr. RUSH, Mr. THOMPSON of Mississippi, Ms. MILLENDER-MCDONALD, Mr. CUMMINGS, Mrs. CHRISTENSEN, Ms. LEE, Mr. HONDA, and Mr. CLAY):

H.R. 40. A bill to acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619

[Page: H112] GPO's PDFand 1865 and to establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes; to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Let's set up another Government bureaucracy to examine something which in the overwhelming majority of American consciousness was hideous and very wrong.  Why do we need a commission to examine this?

I assure you, nothing has changed in our legislature, it's the same old crap with different faces.

For some reason everyone seems more enamored with who the Democratic candidates for President are instead of what really is and isn't happening in Congress and the Senate.  A bunch of toothless legislation will tend to cause them to shift the focus to an election which is still two years off.

It's more about wanting to be in power and far less about what is really best for the republic.  All mid-term '06 did was set the stage for a complete power grab in '08 by the Dems.  Why else would there be so much focus on an election which is almost two years away?  And why is it the Democratic candidates are getting far more face time in the media than the GOP candidates?

Everyone knows that NOTHING is going to happen for 2 more years. And it will be due to the less than 60 rule of the Senate by Republicants.  That and the tyranny from the Whitewash House will cause gridlock. Stupid, not recalcitrant. Why do you think the democrats are already campaigning?  Whining will not help the rupugs in 08.
Please stop conning us, man.

Clever "Please stop conning us, man".  You have a way with words Aox.

How is it you don't manage to see that a better sense of bi-partisanship would benefit America more than worrying about who is in power?  The GOP effed that up in their years of control since Bush has been in office, but the Dems now leaving the GOP out of a lot of the legislative process is just as big a waste.

I don't see there ever being a clear enough majority in either house of Congress in the near future.  I'm pissed that one party or another has "the power" is the end game instead of really working for the constituents.

I'm sorry but I refuse to accept mediocrity and excuses from our legislators and then fall in line with arm chair pundits to blame the minority for the failings of the majority.  I fully believed for the last six years that Republicans in the House and Senate should have been listening more to the opposition and been willing to compromise.

I'm every bit as pissed at the GOP as I am the Dems.  They squandered many years as the majority by refusing to compromise with the other Dems in Congress while there has been a GOP president.

I am totally astonished as to why we should be satisfied with a bunch of impotent legislation for the next two years.  It's almost like hearing "stay the course" all over again.  How is that keeping with the promises of changes which were foisted on us prior to the mid-term?

"The retreat, sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, has been an extended discussion of the direction of the party, and of conservatives in particular, after an angry voter wave swept Republicans from power last November, in part because of conservative discontent."

Fools, they just don't get it. They aren't true conservatives. They are evangelic republicants....
