"The Bush administration plans to cut funding for veterans' health care two years from now — even as badly wounded troops returning from Iraq could overwhelm the system."

"Veterans face consecutive budget cuts "

Even David Broder chimes in:

"Bush budget does not add up"

But the most damaging interview I have seen was by veteran hero Paul Rieckhoff on Countdown Feb. 14th where he made his displeasure with cuts for veterans clear. He said the amount of mental illness, relationship issues, and suicide coming out of the war will need years of mental health funding.

He also added that the military is now opening themselves up to those who have committed Federal crimes as well as raising the age limit to 42.

How's that for supporting our troops Bush and Cheney?

Do you even read the articles you post?

The item they are discussing is the projected budget, which is a prediction of where the budget will be in future years.  When doing a projection you have to guess at certain things, well, most things.  To make his budget look better Bush has, in my opinion, grossly underestimated the cost of the VA and the war itself.

He is pretending the cost of the VA will go down, not threatening to leave it unfunded. In any event,  projected budgets rarely, if ever, represents what will actually happen.

Taken from the first article you posted:
quote:
In fact, even the White House doesn't seem serious about the numbers. It says the long-term budget numbers don't represent actual administration policies. Similar cuts assumed in earlier budgets have been reversed.

Not to mention pretending that the domestic spending will only increase by 1% a year is a farce.  Those bastard will take as much of my money as they can.

And in re the enlisting requirements... so what?  That is pentagon policy and not set by the executive administration.    How does your zealous hatred of Bush have anything to do with that?

You seem to be the media's dream, a person easily outraged that either doesnt care or doesnt think about what they are actually reporting.  Just read Veterans and Budget Cuts in a headline and trot off to tell people how offended you are.  The Bush projections are indeed a huge farce, but they in no way represent a kick to our veterans.

So, we agree. You just wanted to take a punch at me.

Soldiers do not want criminals in their tents. The war is bad enough.

"The Bush projections are indeed a huge farce, but they in no way represent a kick to our veterans." The point is the leadership in this country can bang the support our troops motto but when it comes to a cohesive plan, a plan that looks out for those maimed by Bush et al decisions they are not there with the safety net necessary for them to come home and have a decent remainder to their life. They may not represent a kick to our veterans but they display taking them for granted...
