The parking lot across from McNellies would be a good place to start. McNellies and other establishments could put up a couple tents to serve food and potentially some sort of beverage.

With the city offering free parking after 5pm Downtown there is no cost for the parking.

I can see this being something that can take off because part of the joy of owning an classic car is driving it. The drive from South Tulsa to Downtown is an ideal drive.

Good idea. Now to make it a reality.

Keep on keeping on

the old walmart parking lot at 91st/memorial is completly empty.  mcalesters would sponsor ir i bet.

I think legally they need the lot owner to sign off. That was why sam's was a sponsor of the 71st and mingo show, even though they didn't do anything. Back when eastland was still a mall and owned by simon I tried talking to them about use of their parking lot and couldn't get a return call.

i didnt say they wouldnt.  i figure the owner of Square 91 would sign off on it.  its not like he has anything else going on.

I think the large superblock across the street from McNellie's is owned by the Williams guy out of Claremore.

He is the same guy trying to bring a Wal-Mart downtown.

It appears that walmart owns the spots:

available for SUBLEASE.  walmart still has a lease on it, they are eating money on the lease.  story goes the owner of square 91 was going to marry his daughter off to a Wal-Martian and everything was going to smooth over with letting them out of their lease.  I guess that didnt happen.  Square 91 still has control of the parking lot.

at any rate I heard a different story about the car shows, apparently Sonny Mac was telling the DJ what he should and shouldn't play.  The DJ said that BYB signs his checks so go talk to them.  Sonny Mac got mad and started their own show.  The BYB show is still on, and I have no interest in helping Sonny Mac find a place for their show.  I hear very few people are showing up at the BYB show, sounds like my kind of place. The show started going downhill when they brought in a bunch of sponsors anyways, I'm glad there has been a cleaning of the ranks.  I may start going again.

Hadn't heard that. I may have to drive by BYB and have a look.

The old Oertle's Parking lot  2625 South
Memorial would be an ideal place for the Car

great, sound like i need to go to BYB.

sgrizzle

I drove by BYB and it was pretty mild. Of course their time "6:30 to sundown" only means they get a little over an hour.
