Italian Inn cheese dip

I understand there is a small store on Cherry Street that offers a product very similar to the Italian inn cheese dip from yesteryear.

Anyone tried it?

The Tulsa World ran a story about the recipe...

The owner, Betty Funston Collins, has written a cookbook called "Once Upon a Table" that includes that famous recipe.

It is available at some local bookstores and at her antique store "Pumpkin Sunshine Antiques" in the Blue Heron Mercantile. It contains 137 pages of recipes from the restaurant and costs $19.50.

A friend of mine now makes it for parties. It is the best cheese dip ever.

Yes, the original recipie for the Italian Inn cheese dip was printed in the Tulsa World about a month ago, courtesy of the original owners of the Italian Inn on South Lewis.  If I remember correctly, the article said the owners were holding out on releasing the recipie, should any of their family decide to reopen a restaurant.  They decided not to, so they made their "secret" public.  It is probably still available on the World website.

I am talking about a store that sells Cheeses and they actually make the cheese dip there and sell it.  

We have the Pennington's Black Bottom Pie recipe also, but it is no where near what was prepared and sold at Pennington's Drive In.

That was the very best pie on the planet. We used to ride into town on saturday night just to get a slice of Black Bottom Pie and (chocoholics of course) a chocolate malt.

The store you are looking for on 15th Street is La Donna's, it is located at 15th and St Louis and La Donna does have the Italian Inn dip.
