Brand Newbie here, first post in Oklahoma! Hello all.

As a long time Oklahoma resident (now lost in the Everglades) I would suggest the article is highly subjective. Just like the "quality of life" article's that come rolling out of New England based magazines... How often do you see great towns anywhere but "Vermont" make the list?

Myself, having been in hospital in OKC both VA and private, I had EXCELLENT care. I had the recent misfortune to walk into the VA hospital in Miami, Florida. Okay building, nice hospital district, great mass transit right outside the door, University of Miami Medical Center is connected, so expectations were high!

HA! The lobby was full of bums, the bathroom had soiled clothes all over the floor, and smelled like... well... it REALLY smelled! The only decent workers I have found were the Island or Hispanics that had to bust their buns to get the jobs. The American guys were downright rude. Bet they score REAL HIGH. Why? Well everyone loves Miami Beach, Right? BS!

Jacksonville, another Florida City and a sort of "Tulsa-Twin-with-a-Sea-Port" always hits rock bottom on everything medical. Correction, they always hit bottom on EVERYTHING! Yet they have the nations largest park system,University of Florida Medical Center, The MAYO CLINIC, un-spoiled beaches... and the list goes on and on.

As a frequent traveler throughout the America's. I'd say the ONLY downside to Oklahoma Medicine is when one gets away from the major Cities. The VA clinic system is also VERY weak. Perhaps a program of new VA clinics and community medical centers so no point in the State is more then an hour or so from care. Arkansas is building 8? VA clinics right now in a major medical overhaul. Just as a thought IMO maybe: Guymon, Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, Elk City, McAlester, Bartlesville, Poteau, Ardmore...in addition to what is already in place.

Hold your heads up Tulsa, don't let these Yankee myth-makers spoil your day. With luck, I will be back in the "oil patch" myself in a year or so. I can't wait!
