The U.S. House and Senate have issued a Conference Report on the 2007 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA).  An authorization to appropriate $50M to the Corps of Engineers to work with local govenrments on implementing portions of the Arkansas River Corridor Master Plan remains in the bill. There may be action on passage as early as this week.  Of course authorization and an actual appropriation are two different animals, but the fact that it appears to be moving forward is a good thing for the future of river development in Tulsa County.

Language of the section is as follows:

SEC. 3132. ARKANSAS RIVER CORRIDOR, OKLAHOMA.
a) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary is authorized to participate in the ecosystem restoration, recreation, and flood damage reduction components of the Arkansas River Corridor Master Plan dated October 2005. The Secretary shall coordinate with appropriate presentatives in the vicinity of Tulsa, Oklahoma, including representatives of Tulsa County and surrounding communities and the Indian Nations Council of Governments.
(b) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—There is authorized to be appropriated $50,000,000 to carry out this section.

What a joke. Inhofe can't deliver on this promise. Rice is in the race. Inhofe will be taking an early retirement come November of 08. He's a lame duck.
