Too bad. The Maverick is going down in flames. At least his campaign staffers are. One for soliciting a pro in florida (for $20 no less) and his Iowa campaign managers resigned. All this on top of his other woes.

It won't be McCain in 08.

Another example of bad things happening to really bad people. It's Karma.

I figured you'd like a closet liberal like McCain. [;)]

The only thing Republican about him is his stance on the war and he's slowly drifting into the minority in his party on that front.

McCain has never apealed to me.  It's not surprising.  Once Rudy got in the race and now with a lot of favorable sentiment toward Fred Thompson, someone in the first tier was going to suffer.

Wonder if some of his staff are going over to Thompson.

Here's an off-handed bet.  By next January, I bet the GOP candidates will have a time-frame to bring home troops, I don't see how a pro-war candidate could win in '08.

Wow.  I know plenty of people that do not like his politics, but you are the first I have seen call him a "bad person."

CF: Of course McCain is a "bad [person]". I mean, after serving his country and spending years in a POW camp and all...Nellie has done far much more that justifies sitting in judgment.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

As a former POW and War Vet, he of all people should be against the continuation of this war. Maybe bad is the wrong word. How about delusional, misguided with his blind adoration of Bush, stupid, and vocally challenged (Bomb, Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran).

cannon_fodder

I also think the label "stupid" is misplaced.  By all accounts McCain is an intelligent individual.  He is also very articulate and open about his criticism of Bush.  The war is the only front they are on agreement with I think.

Again, you can disagree with his politics and he may indeed be misguided... but I have to respectfully disagree with the "stupid" or "bad" labels.

/not a McCain supporter even.

John McCain was one of the authors of the campaign financing reform legislation.

He cried out against the way candidates raise money and now can't raise the money it takes to win.

Let that be a lesson for you future candidates for public office. A small group of people raise most of the money given to political races. Don't piss them off.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Well I have to admit, I think people who have affairs are bad.

NellieBly

His blind devotion to Bush and his war has caused his downfall. That's pretty stupid for a seasoned politician.

The list of politicians having affairs is so insanely long.  JFK - bad person.  Clinton must be a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad person since he has had 5 documented affairs.  Now that I think of it, I cannot name a republican president had an affair while I can think of 2 democrats in the latter half of the 20th century.  Clearly, Democratic presidents are bad people.

Again Nellie, he has little devotion to Bush.  He is devoted to the war on terror.  He believes it is a worthwhile cause and something that needs to be done.  I GREATLY prefer candidates that stand by their positions to one that panders to opinion polls and changes on a whim (see, ie, Hillary).  Even if I do not agree with it, I know where they stand.

What you call stupidity, I call conviction.

Whether JFK, Clinton or Vitter. It is reference to their character.

But I know... Boys will be boys.

Not that it really fits here, but i read an interesting study that explained why most societies now are monogamous. Basically, its to ensure that losers can get wives too.  In a polygamous society the really rich have large numbers of wives, the merchant class has a couple, and some have 1.

The problem is, that doesnt leave enough women for everyone.  So a large percentage (30+%) will go their entire life without a wife (which in many societies basically means no sex).  This leads to some problems... like, lets say, young men blowing themselves up in market places so they can get 72 virgin wives.

That article rules so much it pains me.  It explains why men have a tendency to want the appearance of youth (deep down we want to spawn youngins) and why most rock stars suck when they get old.
